CADS Autism
CADS Autism was founded in 2020 by Dr. Astrid van Wilsem, a Clinical Psychologist, and Tania Richards, a Speech and Language Therapist, our team brings over 50 years of combined experience to every autism assessment. Having worked extensively both in private practice and within the NHS, we specialise in providing comprehensive autism assessments for children and adults, starting from 3 years old.

At CADS Autism, we understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for autism diagnosis. That's why we're proud to offer a team comprising a Clinical Psychologist, a Speech and Language Therapist, and collaborating with a Mental Health Nurse trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist for our multi-disciplinary team autism assessments. For clients under 18, our autism assessments involve the active participation of these three clinicians, drawing from their extensive backgrounds in NHS autism assessment centres and private practice.
Our commitment to quality extends to our adherence to NICE guidelines for autism assessments and our clinicians' registration with the Health Care Professional Council, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. We prioritise the well-being of our clients throughout the autism assessment process, striving to schedule the first appointment within a few weeks of contact.
On completion of the autism assessment, we offer an in-depth comprehensive report and clear signposting to services, addressing individual needs identified during the autism assessment process. Should the autism assessment indicate other neuro-developmental conditions, we will provide comprehensive reporting and appropriate signposting.
Recognising the demands of modern life, we offer flexible scheduling with weekend and evening appointments available, minimising disruption to work and school routines. At CADS Autism, we're dedicated to providing personalised care, empowering individuals and families on their autism journey.

The Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R) is used for our clients that are under 18 years old. The ADI-R is a very detailed 3 hour long online interview and will be carried out via Google Meet.
For our adult clients we use the Informant version of the ACIA (Autism Clinical Interview Adults). The ACIA is a semi structured interview that identifies information on core autism characteristics needed for a diagnosis. The ACIA takes between 2 and 3 hours and will be carried out via Google Meet.
