'How it Works'

01

Information is gathered through completion of an initial contact form. This information includes; the reason for referral, current worries and behaviours, risk assessment and pregnancy, birth and other perinatal difficulties. Educational history will also be gathered at this point.

02

The Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R) is used for our clients that are under 18 years old. The ADI-R is a very detailed 3 hour long online interview and will be carried out via Google Meet.

For our adult clients we use the Informant version of the ACIA (Autism Clinical Interview Adults). The ACIA is a semi structured interview that identifies information on core autism characteristics needed for a diagnosis. The ACIA takes between 2 and 3 hours and will be carried out via Google Meet.

ADHD Assessment

Diva 5

The Young DIVA-5 (The Diagnostic Interview for young people) is based on the DSM-5 criteria for ADHD. It is a structured clinical interview, carried out with parents, for ADHD in young people aged 5-17 years. The interview takes between 1.5-2 hours and will be carried out via Google Meet.

For our adult clients the DIVA 5 is carried out.

The DIVA-5 asks about:

  • The presence of ADHD symptoms in adulthood and childhood

  • The chronicity of these symptoms

  • Significant lifetime impairments due to these symptoms

03

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS) takes around 1-1.5 hours, and will be carried out face to face or online with the clinician.

ADHD Assessment

Observation/Interview

An ADHD observation assessment is a part of the process of diagnosing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) that involves observing a child's behaviour. During the observation, we will be considering your child's activity levels, ability to concentrate and focus, and any impulsivity. We will also look at their general behaviour and how they interact in clinic in addition  to gathering information on how they interact with their peers and teachers in school.

QUESTIONNAIRES

ADHD Assessment

The SNAP IV is a rating scale used to assess symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and. It is a widely used tool for diagnosing and monitoring ADHD. The SNAP IV questionnaire consists of 26 questions and is completed by parents, teachers, or other caregivers who observe the child's behaviour. We may also explore executive functioning skills further using the EFQ

The ASRSv1.1 is a self report scale used to assess symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults. It is based on the diagnostic criteria outlined in the ASM 5- TR. The scale includes 18 questions that correspond to the core symptoms of ADHD, categorized into inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity.

05

MDT/DSM5

Multi Disciplinary Team: Once the information gathering process is complete, for children three clinicians  then meet to discuss  our  findings from our autism diagnostic assessment and two clinicians meet to discuss findings from our ADHD assessment and compare against the DSM-5 criteria. For adults, two clinicians meet to discuss and compare against the DSM-5.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

School/preschool Feedback Questionnaire; this questionnaire will be sent to school (if applicable) to get information from a school perspective.

For adults, further information is gathered through questionnaires such as the EQ40, CATQ and AQ50

FOLLOWING THE ASSESSMENT

  • A Feedback Appointment will be offered: the outcome of the assessment is then relayed back to you in a 30 minute feedback session so that we can explain our findings in detail.

  • Report: We will send out a detailed report explaining the results, local supports and further recommendations.
